In the past month I have toyed with several names for the project. It proved to be difficult to find a name that wasn’t labeling the people that I’ll interview in a manner that they wouldn’t (want to) label themselves with. Also, since I want to take an ethnographic approach on the research side of the project, choosing a directive name beforehand doesn’t feel right at all.
‘Flow’ as a term came up during yet another conversation (YAC) on namegiving with Ton, my husband. Newfashioned (aka Mac dashboard widget) dictionary to the rescue.
One of the phrases mentioned under ‘flow‘ is ‘in full flow‘. The dictionary describes it as: Talking or performing fluently and enthusiastically.
The phrase has several links to the project.
1. The people I have in mind are enthousiastic about what they do for a living.
2. Some of them talk about Flow, others are on a neverending quest to find Flow.
3. The main body of this project will be interviews, therefore lot’s of talking.
4. I hope to tackle this project in full flow.
Surprisingly enough the .net and .org domains weren’t taken, so bought both and here you are now on the colourful infullflow.net.
I hope you like both the name and the site.
And don’t forget to subsribe (if you haven’t already).
(P.S.: if you’re a webdesigner and can’t stand the looks of this site, go on and help me fix it)
Cool name ! Cool website ! Cool video-updates !
Keep producing….
By the way, if you name your project “in full flow” you have the read the work of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi about being in flow. He is the master on this subject.
