Blending work and life – stories of a wired tribe
The story so far
Categories: blog

I’ve first written on this project in January this year. I wrote:

The past few months an idea started to take shape in my head. It taps into my research aspiration, my joy in editing, my curiousity. It’s about a topic that fascinates me. It’s for practicing my skills. It’s something I’ve never done before.

The idea that took shape in my head:

[...] to collect stories on video. Stories told by people I’ve come across in the past years, on conferences, BlogWalks and other meetings. Smart people who approach their work different. The Networked worker. I’m curious about their choices, to leave a certain company/job, to become independent, or an entrepreneur. I want to know what role their family plays in such decisions, whether personal circumstances forced them to their independence, or perhaps they ’saw the light’.

The end goal I hope to achieve is making a documentary of the collected stories.

The idea became more serious by the month. So far it resulted in upgrading my camera equipment, writing a project plan, publishing video updates and doing a first (test) interview. The next important step is launching this site, where I collect all material relevant to the project.

This site is not only about collecting materials, this is also about being transparant about the process. This project will be a long-term one. It takes time to collect resources, data and stories. To keep myself on track and motivated I’ll be blogging, vlogging, bookmarking, interviewing, data-collecting this project into existence.

This is also the space where you can get involved. Since I’m doing this on my own, without a budget, I appreciate any help you can give. Whether it is by subscribing to the feed or newsletter, encouraging me by commenting, giving me feedback or sending me links to resources, or by sponsoring (a part of) the project. All evenly appreciated!

Thanks for stepping by and I hope to see you again soon. Don’t forget to subscribe to keep updated :)
