Daughter had her last day in her daycare group today. Pre-corona, parents would be joining their kid on this day to bid a final farewell to the group and its caretakers. These days parents are not allowed inside the building. Therefore it was mainly Daughter’s farewell party.

I created a card for all the kids, Daughter drew the cards for her three regular caretakers and I wrote a personal message on the back. When I picked her up at the end of the day, her bag was filled with all sorts of material collected during the past three years she attended daycare. A lovely way to remember how much she grew in these three years.

Daughter now moves from the hedgehogs to the bunnies, the after school group for kids aged four and five. A toddler no more. Next week school starts. A new era begins. A full school year ahead. It will take some time for me to adjust to the rigid time schedule that comes with it. Considering Daughter has twelve years of school ahead of her, at some point I will get used to that schedule. Or not.
